FINAL RESULTS (XPRESS TIMING) | FINAL RESULTS
NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans Track and Field team had one of its best indoor performances in years on Sunday at the USA Invitational. The Privateers won five individual events – both the men's and women's 60-meters, the men's 200-meters, the men's 800-meters and the women's mile - setting four school records in the process.
PRIVATEERS SWEEP THE 60M
Junior sprinters
Ismael Kone and
Vivette Green both won the men's 60 women's 60 with times of 6.66
(personal best) - a new school record - and 7.50 respectively.
Elliott Cummings finished third in the men's 60 with a time of 6.78.
KONE ALSO WINS THE 200M
Kone added his second victory of the day finishing with a time of 21.31 in the men's 200, .08 seconds ahead of Middle Tennessee State's Alaba Akintola, and .12 seconds ahead of Auburn's Brandon Smiley. Green came close to duplicating Kone's success, finishing second in the women's 200 with a time of 24.54. Kone's time was also a -
new school record.
McBRIDE WINS SECOND STRAIGHT 800M
Last year, competing for Southeastern,
Parker McBride finished second in the men's 800 at the USA Invitational with a time of 1:54.22 – this year the junior improved his time by just under two seconds to win the event (1:52.25) -
a new school record.. It's the second-straight event McBride has won the 800 after victory at the Texas Aggie Invitational two weeks ago.
WEIR WINS MILE
Alexandra Weir continued the recent success of the women's distance runners at UNO with her victory in the women's mile. Weir finished with a time of 4:56.37, .48 seconds ahead of Sandra Szpott from Southern Miss. Sophomore
Ariana Jimenez finished just outside the top-10 with an 11th place time of 5:06.74
(personal best).
SEVERAL PRIVATEERS HAVE TOP-FIVE FINISHES
In addition to Green and Cummings, several other Privateers had top-five finishes.
Christopher Murphy finished third in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.01m
(personal best).
Alec Snell finished fourth in the men's mile with a time of 4:12.53.
Allie Louis finished fifth in the women's 800 with a time of 2:14.90.
Michelle Folk finished fifth in the women's 5000 with a time of 18:57.96
(personal best), and the "A" team of
Esther Nwanze, Green,
Aryn Pitre, and
Briana Bell finished fifth in the women's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:59.24.
KOLYN SALTZMAN BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD / MEET RECORD IN 3000M
Distance runner
Kolyn Saltzman set a
- new school record - in the men's 3000 with a time of 3:23.08
(personal best) - also breaking the record for the event at the USA Invitational. Unfortunately for the New Iberia native, so did sixth others running in the event, leading to a seventh-place finish.
