Privateers Finish Fifth in Diamondhead

DIAMONDHEAD – The New Orleans Privateer golf team finished the 2022 Gulf Coast Collegiate with a score of 897 – in fifth place - after a final round of 298 at the Diamondhead Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Grayson Gilbert entered the day with a shot at the individual title and spent most of the afternoon tied for second place before eventually finishing tied for fourth-place with a score of 217. Grayson topped the Privateers with 12 birdies over 36-holes.

Playing in his first tournament since 2020, redshirt sophomore Ryan Fulton shot sandwiched a second-round score of 79 with a pair of even par rounds. His final tally of 223 was good enough to finish tied for 12^th overall. Like Gilbert, Fulton finished with 12 birdies over 36-holes.

Brady Bennett, who got off to a slow start on Monday, finished Tuesday afternoon with a round of 75, and had the highlight of the tournament for the Privateers - a 35-foot chip shot for birdie on hole 11. Bennett finished the tournament with a score of 231 – tied for fifth. The Zachary native finished tied for 35^th with a score of 231.
 
Coming into the tournament second in the country in birdies, the Privateers sank 48 more birdies – the most among the field, with Gilbert and Fulton combining for half of them.

Rounding out the scores for UNO were Florian Moosmeier (230), Henry Augenstein (237), and Kyle Bennett (250) who played as an independent.

The Troy Trojans won the event with a score of 880, 15 over-par. The individual winner was Ryan O'Neil of Nicholls with a score of 212, 4-under par.
