NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team (8-4) will head to Fort Worth this weekend to take part in the Fight in the Fort. A batch of four matches will span two days and starts on Friday.
The Privateers will face TCU, ULM, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Arizona State. The Horned Frogs are ranked third in the nation in the latest poll at 15-0. Arizona State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are also receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll released Tuesday.
Maxine Walsh and
Hannah Volpi picked up the lone point for the Privateers against Tulane last week in the Tulane Classic. The duo has seven wins on the season and have won six of their last seven matches. Five of those wins have come in straight sets.
Leading the way in wins are
Trinity Jackson and
Alexa Spartz. They've posted a 10-2 record at flight three this season. The duo had an eight-match winning streak that was snapped last week in the Tulane Classic against the Green Wave.
Ania Esarte and
Lucie Pokorna have also scored nine wins in 12 matches on the season at flight one. All of their victories have come in straight sets.
The Privateers will face TCU and Arizona State for the first time this season. They narrowly lost 3-2 to ULM in the opening weekend and have lost twice to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
