NEW ORLEANS – Coming off a 2-2 opening weekend, the Privateers beach volleyball team will participate in the Spring Hill Beach Bash starting on Thursday morning at Gulf Shores Beach. The Privateers will play Spring Hill, Huntingdon, William Carey and Tusculum.
In the opening weekend, which served as a mini preview of what could be to come later in the season and at the Southland Championships, the Privateers went 2-1 against conference competition with wins against Southeastern and HBU.
Ania Esarte and
Lucie Pokorna debuted at flight one and went 3-1 on the weekend. The Privateers also got three victories from
Alexa Spartz and
Trinity Jackson on the weekend at flight three.
The Privateers last participated in a tournament in Gulf Shores in 2019. That season, New Orleans went 3-1 with wins against Spring Hill, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Austin Peay.
In the first weekend, the Privateers swept HBU for the first time on the sand. The win over the Huskies was the first since 2019.
Spring Hill was the opponent for the Privateers' first beach volleyball victory when New Orleans won 3-2 against the Badgers on Mar. 18, 2016.
