NEW ORLEANS –
The University of New Orleans Golfers shot rounds of 288 and 285 (573 total) to finish day one of The Big Texan in sole possession of first place. It was the second time this season the Privateers opened a tournament with a pair of rounds below 290.

Florian Moosmeier led the way for the Privateers with rounds of 73 and 69. The German's score of 142 tied him for eighth-place individually heading into tomorrow. Flo made nine birdies over the two rounds and sank the third eagle of his career on the fourth hole during round two.

Henry Augenstein, Ryan Fulton and Grayson Gilbert all finished with scores of 145 – tied for 14th place individually. Augenstein finished his first round with a remarkable sequence of eagle, par, par, birdie, birdie, par, birdie, par, bogey on the front nine. Fulton's 2-under par second round was his best since the Colin Montgomerie Invitational.

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"I'm really pumped for the guys today. They have worked extremely hard this semester and haven't really seen the results. It's exciting to see it start to come together. What's even more exciting is that both rounds we got off to a very slow start, but the guys never let that bother them. We finished really well in both rounds today. This is what we work for everyday and I can't wait to see how they respond tomorrow."
