NEW ORLEANS – With winds howling up to 45 miles per hour the University of New Orleans golf team couldn't hold it's first place lead from Monday, but still finished in second place at the Big Texan on Tuesday afternoon.
Henry Augenstein finished at 221 and tied for 12
th place to lead the Privateers.
Florian Moosmeier finished one stroke behind him, tied for 17
th.
Ryan Fulton finished a stroke behind Flo, tied for 19
th, and
Grayson Gilbert and
Brady Bennett each finished a shot behind Ryan, tying them for 22
nd.
It marked the first time every Privateer finished inside the top-25 since the 2014 Atchafalaya Intercollegiate, and the first time every Privateer finished top-22 since the 2009 Squire Creek Invitational.
New Orleans finished the tournament the best on par-four holes with an average of 4.13 and made 45 combined birdies with a pair of eagles. Moosmeier led the Privateers with 11 birdies, while he and Augenstein each had an eagle.
UNO fared well when compared to fellow Southland schools, finishing four strokes ahead of Southeastern, 11 strokes ahead of UIW, 14 and strokes ahead of HBU. The Privateers also finished 17 strokes ahead of former Southland rival Stephen F. Austin.
Seton Hall moved from third to first with a final round of 299 to win the event with a score of 876, and TJ Shehee of Northern Colorado was the individual winner with a 4-under par 212.
