NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team will host a tournament this week when they welcome in four teams for the UNO Invitational. The Privateers will play against Nicholls, North Florida, Spring Hill and Southeastern. The tournament gets underway on Thursday at Coconut Beach in Kenner.
The Privateers (9-7) came off their toughest week of the season last week when they played against three teams who were either nationally ranked or receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll.
Two duos scored for the Privateers against Arizona State in the final match of the weekend in Fort Worth.
Maxine Walsh and
Hannah Volpi earned a win at flight two while
Trinity Jackson and
Alexa Spartz scored at flight three.
Ania Esarte and
Lucie Pokorna have notched 10 wins on the season after achieving victories against ULM and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend. Jackson and Spartz have also eclipsed the 10-win mark on the season.
New Orleans has played three of the four opponents already this season. They defeated Nicholls, Spring Hill and Southeastern in different tournaments.
The last time New Orleans hosted an invitational was in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. In the last two seasons of hosting (2019-20), the Privateers have gone 5-3.
