NEW ORLEANS-5 NICHOLLS-0
It was a strong start to the day for the Privateers who only dropped one set on their way to a clean sweep against the Colonels, their second win against their Southland foes from Thibodaux.
Three different pairs engineered set victories while only allowing single digit points.
Lucie Pokorna and
Ania Esarte only allowed six points in the second set of their victory.
Valerie Vujnovich and
Liz Gialanella were dominant in at 21-10, 21-7 win at flight five. Also,
Alexa Spartz and
Trinity Jackson only conceded seven points in the second set of their victory at flight three.
Maxine Walsh and
Hannah Volpi had to rally from down a set but did so with a dominant second set. The flight two duo then staved off a Colonels charge to take the third set 15-13.
Hailey Melerine and
Taylore Louviere also won in straight sets at 21-17, 21-15.
NORTH FLORIDA-5 NEW ORLEANS-0
The Privateers were close in a couple of spots but the Ospreys came up with resolute wins at flights two and four to complete the sweep of the Privateers.
Vujnovich and Gialanella held on through a late North Florida rally to take the first set but the Ospreys duo came back with close wins over the next two sets at 21-19 and 15-13.
Walsh and Volpi grabbed an early lead in the third set and threatened a comeback from down a set but Carleigh Semeniuk and Lauren Galinis held on to win the third set in extra rallies 17-15.
North Florida won the remaining matches in straight sets to move to 2-0 on the weekend after their win earlier in the day against Spring Hill.
