NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (8-6) will face their final non-conference opponent before a pivotal Southland stretch on Sunday as they will take on the North Texas Mean Green (8-7) on Sunday at the University Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
The Privateers will play the remainder of their Southland schedule in four consecutive matches after their bout against the Mean Green on the Lakefront.
New Orleans and North Texas will be meeting for the third time since 2004. The two sides split a pair of meetings with New Orleans winning 5-0 at City Park in 2004. The Mean Green scored a 7-0 victory in 2009.
New Orleans will look to turn their fortunes around after being handed three consecutive losses at the hands of Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State and Tulane.
Lina Hohnhold enters the match protecting an eight-game singles winning streak. Hohnhold was in the third set of her match against Tulane which went unfinished. Hohnhold hasn't lost in singles since the regular season opener against South Alabama
North Texas has lost five straight matches since their 4-2 win against Marshall on Feb. 25. The Mean Green were narrowly defeated in their last outing by a score of 4-3 against VCU on Mar. 19. Liisa Vehvilainen is 9-2 in singles with a 7-1 mark at flight five this season.
