GULF SHORES, Ala. – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team (6-2) completed a sweep of the week at the Spring Hill Beach Bash when they defeated the Tusculum Pioneers (7-2) by a score of 5-0 on Thursday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Three sweeps on the tournament were capped off with a bevy of strong performances throughout the lineup.
Ania Esarte and
Lucie Pokorna finished the week with a 4-0 mark when they outlasted Olivia O'Keefe and Charlyn Miller 21-18, 21-18 at flight one.
Trinity Jackson and
Alexa Spartz continued to rack up the wins in bunches with another victory at flight three on Thursday. Jackson and Spartz dominated the first set and held on through extra rallies in the second for a 21-8, 22-20 victory.
Flight five also saw four wins on the week when
Hailey Melerine and
Valerie Vujnovich won in straight sets against Diana Bierwagen and Arizona Webb 21-15, 21-15.
Taylore Louviere and
Liz Gialanella also got out to a fast start in a 21-7, 21-19 win at flight four.
Maxine Walsh and
Hannah Volpi came back from down a set to win 18-21, 21-19, 15-11 at flight two.
In the exhibition match,
Serena Baumgart and
Ivana de Carvalho Peixe held through extra rallies in a dramatic third set for a 21-18, 13-21, 16-14 victory.
NEXT UP
The Privateers will take part in the Tulane Classic, starting on Friday, Mar. 11. They will face Nicholls, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tulane and Southern Miss over two days.
