Men's Tennis Sets for Battle Against 11-1 Ragin' Cajuns

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team will host an in-state foe on Sunday when they battle against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at the University Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Privateers have started a new winning streak, which currently stands at three straight matches after their mid-week win against West Alabama. The record for New Orleans has stretched to 11-1 on the season ahead of a stretch where three of the next four matches take place at home.

Marcel Volz is the first Privateer to reach double digit wins on the season as he has posted 10 singles victories. Max Heinzel (8-2) and David Tesic are both closing in on that mark as well with eight singles wins to date.

As a team, New Orleans has won nearly 80 percent of their singles matches on the season while recording wins at a 77 percent clip in doubles. Heinzel and Akos Kotorman have scored the most wins as a unit with six.

The Cajuns also come in with an 11-1 record and have won 10 straight since their lone loss of the spring which came at UTSA on Jan. 16. Since then, the Cajuns have scored wins against Rice, Texas Tech and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Oriol Fillat Gimenez leads a strong squad with 10 singles wins on the year. Vasil Dimitrov follows closely behind with nine. The Cajuns are 45-18 collectively in singles play this season.
