NEW ORLEANS, La. -
Trinity Jackson,
Lucie Pokorna, and
Alexa Spartz are selected for the Southland Conference (SLC) 2022 Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team; the SLC announced today.
"We pride ourselves in being all-around athletes, which includes excellence on the court, in the community and in the classroom. As a student-athlete, it is not easy to juggle all of the above, but Trinity, Lex and Lucie have worked hard to accomplish these goals," says Head Coach
Amy Blanke.
"I am so proud of them and the example they set for the rest of our program."
Jackson, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an art major with a 3.84 GPA. Jackson doubles as an integral piece of the indoor volleyball team as well, and she recently won Cumulus Media Play of the Yea

Alexa Spartz, the duo landed a First-Team All-Conference honor going 23-12 this season at court three. Spartz, a junior from Glendale, Ariz., majors in physical therapy and has a GPA of 3.86.
Pokorna, a junior from Kladno, Czech Republic, rounds out the three Privateers with a 3.27 GPA majoring in Human Performance & Health Promotions. Pokorna, alongside teammate
Ania Esarte, was awarded the 2022 SLC Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year. The duo posted a 27-6 record at court one this season and one the final SLC Pair of the Week award.
"All three were first team all conference as players on the court, so adding All-academic to that shows their dedication to being well rounded individuals," says Assistant Coach
Avery Thibodeaux.
"They are leaders of a team that is not only competitive in the sand but also in the classroom."
The All-Academic teams are voted on by the head coach, sports information director and academic/compliance staff member from each institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection.
