NEW ORLEANS – Maxine Hayes will transition to the sidelines this season after finishing her playing career for the University of New Orleans. The former indoor and beach volleyball student-athlete will be a graduate assistant for the upcoming 2022 season.
Maxine made an impact both on the indoor and beach courts for the Privateers. She finished her final beach season by posting 17 wins, which put her career total at 42. That total is good for fifth in program history after the 22 season.
In 2022, Maxine was paired mostly with Hannah Volpi. The duo won Second Team All-Southland honors at flight two.
Hayes played 47 sets in her return to the indoor court in 2021. She posted 38 total blocks and was third on the team in blocks per set at 0.81. She also had 47 kills in 47 sets. In her season debut against UTRGV, Maxine went for eight kills and a season best six blocks.
The Leonia, N.J. native also received an NCAA Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship. She is finishing her Master's in Health Care Management.
