NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams are ranked No. 11 and No. 13 in the latest South Central Region polls released by the United States Track & Field / Cross Country Coaches Association released on Monday afternoon.

After originally being ranked as high as No. 11 in the preseason poll the Privateer men find themselves back at No. 11 after dipping to No. 13 in last week's poll. The UNO men finished in 10th place at the Southern Showcase during their last outing on Sept. 10.

Freshman Matthew Hansen paced the Privateers in his first career 8K after clocking in at 24:36.6 – good for 30th place and the 12th best 8K time in school history. Five Privateer men finished inside the top-100 in a field of over 300 runners with Evan Pardo, and Antonio Delgado setting new personal bests.

The Privateer women fell one spot to No. 12 following another week away from competition. Three weeks ago, the women's team finished in 10th place (out of 35 teams) at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala.

Seven Privateer women finished inside the top-100 in a field of over 320 runners. Rebecca DeKay led the way with a 52nd place finish in 17:56.8 while Oxana Bonjorn-Giros, Tshwanelo Maruping, and Holly Hedrick all set new personal bests at John Hunt Park.

The UNO men have been ranked in 20 straight regional polls dating back to February of 2020, while the women have been ranked in 15 straight regional polls dating back to October of 2021. The Privateer men are ranked ahead of Baylor, Central Arkansas, LSU and TCU. The Privateer women are ranked ahead of Houston, and ULM in this week's poll. In total four Southland schools are ranked on the men's side, and three are ranked on the women's side.
