COURSE MAPS: WOMEN'S (6K) MEN'S (10K)
FAYETTEVILLE – The University of New Orleans Cross Country teams will look to advance to the NCAA Championships when they compete at the South Central Regionals on Friday morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Two weeks ago, the Privateer women finished in second place at the Southland Championships.
Tshwanelo Maruping finished 4
th with a time of 21:41.1 and was named first team All-Southland.
Alexandra Weir finished 6
th with a time of 21:59.1 and was named second team All-Southland.
Emma Bourg finished 10
th with a time of 22:20.7 also earning second team All-Southland Honors and was named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year.
The New Orleans men finished in fourth place finish at the Southland Championships last time out.
Evan Pardo led the way with an eighth place finish in 25:18.6, and earned second team All-Southland honors in the process. The Slidell native was named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year for his efforts at Windcrest Golf Course.
At last season's South Central Regionals in College Station, Texas the Privateer men and women both finished in sixth place – the best finish in a regional in school history for both programs. The women finished with 170 points, their lowest ever point total at an NCAA regional, a single point behind fifth-place SMU and just 15 points shy of third-place LSU.
During last year's regional Weir earned her second consecutive USTFCCA All-Region selection with a 23
rd place finish in 21:11.8. Maruping finished 35
th in 21:23.8 and DeKay finished 37
th in 21:25.1. Those times are the fifth, seventh and eighth best times run by a Privateer woman at an NCAA regional in school history.
Weir and DeKay will both compete in the third NCAA regional of their careers, while Maruping will run in her second.
Oxana Bonjorn-Giros, Bourg,
Agnes Danner and
Sophia Wolf will all be running in their first career NCAA regionals.
The New Orleans men's sixth place finish last season was a three spot improvement on their No. 9 ranking headed into the event. The men's points total of 284 points was their second-lowest points total in program history trailing only their 248 point total from two seasons ago.
Cade Litolff and
Gary Sandrock return to compete in their third NCAA Regionals while
Alex Soileau will race in his second.
Baptiste Depril-Dupre finished 77
th in last year's South Central Regional with a time of 33:31.5 for Louisiana before transferring to the Lakefront this season.
Kelvin Chiku,
Matthew Hansen, and Pardo will all compete in their first career NCAA regionals.
The women's 6K begins at 10:30 a.m. with the men's 10K set to follow an hour later at Agri Park on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Fans can follow along with live timing results

The top two teams in each race will qualify for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 18 in Charlottesville, Va. In addition, the top four individual runners in each race who are not a member of either of the top two finishing teams will also qualify to run individually at the NCAA Championships.
