NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Beach Volleyball program will travel to Thibodaux for the Clash on the Bayou Invitational where the Privateers will play four matches over the course of Friday and Saturday. Among the four teams are Loyola University (La.), LaGrange, ULM, and Nicholls.
The Privateers will face Loyola Friday at 1 p.m. followed by a matchup against LaGrange at 3 p.m. The Privateers continue their action Saturday afternoon with matches against ULM at 11 a.m. and against Nicholls at 1:30 p.m.
The Privateers are coming off of a 2-2 performance at the Green Wave Invitational. New Orleans opened their season with victories over Nicholls (5-0) and Noth Alabama (3-2). They dropped two matches to Tulane and #5 LSU. At court two,
Trinity Jackson and
Alexa Spartz completed a 2-0 sweep over both Nicholls and North Alabama.
Nicholls is 0-4 on the season and will have their second meeting against New Orleans.
ULM comes into tomorrow's invite at 4-0 finishing their season opening weekend undefeated. The Warhawks only dropped one game, to Utah, at the Nick and Dee Herman Invitational at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Avery Reynolds and Claire Williamson at court four did not drop a set and only allowed a team within five points of them once.
In their last meeting against the Warhawks in 2022, the Privateers were defeated 2-3.
Trinity Jackson and
Alexa Spartz had wins on court two, while
Lucie Pokorna and
Ania Esarte defeated opponents on court one.
LaGrange is 0-12 on the season at Division III. The Panthers are 0-12 on the 2023 season that began Feb.3.
Loyola New Orleans earned their first win in The Sun Conference this season with a 4-1 result against FMU, almost getting a second one as well but just getting edged out by STU 3-2. The Wolf Pack's overall record this season now stands at 3-5, 1-2 in conference play.
