The New Orleans beach volleyball program concluded the Mardi Gras invitational hosted by Southeastern with a 2-0 finish Saturday afternoon with wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Southeastern.
The top two pairs,
Ania Esarte/
Maria Ozaeta at one and
Trinity Jackson/
Alexa Spartz at two, went undefeated this week all in straight sets.
The Privateers (10-6) battled to 3-2 finishes over both teams beginning with the Javelinas.
At court four,
Valentina Echeverri and Ivana Peixe were the first to grab a point as they held opponents to 12 in the second set.
At court one, Esarte and Ozaeta put forth a consistent effort holding the Javelinas to ten points in both sets. Teammates rallied around Spartz and Jackson at court two as they sealed the overall victory with a win.
In their first meeting against the Lions this season, the top three pairs took wins. After dropping to SLU at both the fours and fives, Esarte and Ozaeta put the first win on the board followed by Spartz and Jackson.
Valerie Vujnovich and
Hannah Volpi pushed to three sets to secure the late victory as Volpi had over three service aces in a row to win set three.
Spartz and Jackson's undefeated weekend pushes them to a team-best 13-3 record together.
New Orleans turns its attention to two big matches next week beginning with Tulane at 12:30 p.m. and Southeastern at 2:30 p.m. at the Bayou Beach Duals on Thursday.
