NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team will play two matches over the next three days. A short trip to Hattiesburg is followed by a home match against Alcorn State. The Privateers play Southern Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m. They play Alcorn State on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Privateers have had a long time since their last match. It has been 16 days since New Orleans (5-2) hit the court against South Alabama. The Privateers have lost to South Alabama and Tulane this season.
Kateryna Kalistratova is part of the new roster that has vaulted the Privateers to a 5-2 start. She leads the team in singles wins with five in six decisions thus far on the year.
As a team, New Orleans has won just over 61 percent of their singles matches this season.
Didi Bredberg Canizares and
Raluca Puscas each have four wins.
In doubles, New Orleans teams are 12-5.
Anastassia Kouchnareva and
Ksenia Reznitskaya are still unblemished on the season at 5-0. Bredberg and Puscas have combined for four doubles victories on the season.
Southern Miss (4-2) is coming off back-to-back sweeps against Nicholls and Jackson State. The Golden Eagles last played on Thursday.
Alcorn State is 2-7 on the year. The Braves have victories against Bethune Cookman and Prairie View in 2023. They have lost to a Southland school, falling 6-1 to Nicholls.
