Box Score NATCHITOCHES, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team took a tough 7-0 loss to the Northwestern State Lady Demons at the Jack Fisher Lady Demons Tennis Complex.
The doubles point was closely contested as it came down to court three. The Lady Demons won 6-3 at flight one.
Didi Bredberg Canizares and
Raluca Puscas then scored a 6-3 win at flight two which evened the doubles bout at 1-1.
Dorota Szczygieiska and Sofi Garcia won the deciding doubles point as they notched a 6-3 victory at flight three to give the Lady Demons the first point.
When the match broke into singles, Northwestern State was resilient in a pair of three-set matches and won the other four in straight sets.
Garcia won 6-3, 6-1 and Tjasa Klevisar notched a 6-3, 6-4 win to put Northwestern State on the brink of victory. That was clinched when Ayu Ishibashi posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at flight two.
Paige Wise won the first set 6-1 but was defeated 6-3 in the second set. Wise bounced back for a double break win in the third set. Renske Ubachs lost a first set tiebreak but rallied to win the second set 6-3 and won a super tiebreak in the third.
