DAY ONE RESULTS
NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans golf team shot its lowest round at a conference championship in fifteen years and are tied for second place with Lamar headed into round two of the Southland Conference Championship after totaling a 290 on Tuesday afternoon.

On the back nine he birdied 15 and bogeyed 16 to finish at par. The Monroe native has now played 113 rounds of golf in his Privateer career, the most ever by a Privateer, and today was his 21
st round under par - a total that sits just outside the top five in school history.
Ryan Fulton,
Henry Augenstein and
Mason Roberts are tied for 14
th after they all finished at 73.
Fulton got off to a rough start with bogeys on his first three holes before closing out his front nine with two birdies and two pars. Sitting at 2-over-par with seven holes to play, Ryan sank a birdie on hole 12 before burying six straight pars to finish his day.
Augenstein made birdies on holes five, 12 and sat at 1-under par before double bogeying 14. Henry did not let that slight hiccup shake him and responded with a par on 15, a birdie on 16 and par on the final hole to wrap up his afternoon.
Roberts, playing in his first Southland Championship, was also solid on Tuesday afternoon. Playing in his home state the sophomore got off to a strong start after birdies on holes four and seven left him at 1-under par as well after the opening nine holes. The Odessa College transfer would add another birdie on hole 15 and finish his day 1-over par.
Kyle Bennett finished just outside the top-25, tied for 26 after shooting a 75. Bennett sat at 5-over par after 12 holes, but closed strong finishing with two birdies and five pars during his final seven holes.
As a team the Privateers led the field with 61 pars made, while sinking 13 birdies on Tuesday afternoon.
Round two gets underway tomorrow with Bennett set to tee off first for UNO at 10:30 a.m. Gilbert will be the last to tee off for New Orleans at 11:10 a.m., and the Privateers will be paired with Lamar and Augusta. Fans can follow along on

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"I'm so proud of the effort today. Nobody had their best stuff but the guys ground out a good score."
"We talked a lot going into this event about not shooting ourselves out of the tournament with a bad first round. That has been our Achilles heel all year. The goal today was, no matter how we hit the ball, we were going to stay with a positive attitude and find a way to put up a decent score. That is exactly what we did. We still have a ton of work to do to accomplish our ultimate goal, but today was definitely a good start."
