ITA WOMEN'S AWARDS | ITA MEN'S AWARDS
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis teams were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as they both earned All-Academic awards. The list was announced on Monday morning.
The tennis teams have been notorious for their high marks in the classroom and this year was no different. Of the 17 student-athletes between both teams, 15 made at least a 3.5 GPA in both semesters during the 2022-23 academic year. All 15 were individual scholar athletes on the ITA's All-Academic List.
The women's team earned a 3.73 GPA for the calendar year. The men's team also had a strong showing with a 3.68 GPA for the year.
Six student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for both semesters: on the men's side it was
Karim Al-Amin,
Matthew Armbruster,
Mihajlo Drobnjakovic,
Max Heinzel and
Marcel Volz. On the women's side,
Audelia Morin Kougoucheff accomplished the feat.
That added onto the growing list of academic accolades. Four Privateers earned Southland All-Academic honors for the spring.
Espen Lagarde,
Luke Joujan, Armbruster and Heinzel all made the Southland All-Academic Team.
New Orleans also had a successful season on the court that saw
Burzis Kanga earn his third Coach of the Year honor, the men's and women's team sweep Freshman of the Year awards and six All-Southland singles and three doubles selections.
