USTFCCCA RELEASES: All-Academic Teams (Men) | All-Academic Teams (Women)
NEW ORLEANS – After recording their best cumulative team grade point averages in over a decade, both University of New Orleans Track and Field teams earned All-Academic recognition for their hard work in the classroom by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday afternoon.
For the first time since the return of the program in 2012 the Privateer men's team qualified for USTFCCCA All-Academic status with a cumulative grade point average of 3.11.
Jaden Forester (Computer Science),
Ryan Guenthner (Creative Writing), and
Gary Sandrock (Chemistry) had perfect 4.0's on the men's side. Over 70% of the men's squad (17 out of 24 members) currently have a 3.0 or better grade point average.
The Privateer women also qualified for the first time since the return of the of the program in 2012 with a collective grade point average of 3.01.
Irene Bonanomi and
Alexandra Weir had perfect 4.0 grade point averages while working on their graduate degrees in Chemistry and Urban Planning respectively. Just like the men's program 70% of the Privateer women (16 out of 23 members) currently have a 3.0 or better grade point average.
To earn All-Academic recognition from the USTFCCCA a team must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above for all student-athletes officially listed on the NCAA's participation list for that team.
