NEW ORLEANS – A trio of University of New Orleans women, as well as
Mason Appleton all placed in the top-20 of the Southland Conference Championships on Friday morning at Lake Oaks Park.
Emma Bourg finished 15
th with a time of 22:25.55 – one spot shy of earning a second consecutive All-Southland selection.
Oxana Bonjorn-Giros finished 17
th in 22:25.55, and
Sophia Wolf crossed the line 22:26.67 good for 18
th place.
In their Southland debuts freshmen
Petra Imre,
Michela Papalia and
Annika Metzger finished 30
th, 36
th and 45
th with times of 22:56.00, 23:12.29, and 23:45.36 respectively.
Mason Appleton was the only top-20 finisher on the men's side with a time of 26:20.68.
Josh Johnston was next up for the Privateers with a 37
th place finish in 26:58.31.
Hunter Appleton rounded out the top-40 finishes for UNO with a time of 27:03.32.
Lamar won the women's championship with 45 points and three runners in the top eight. UIW took home the crown on the men's side with 29 points and six runners in the top nine. Elizabeth Khatevi (AMCC) and Elkana Kipruto (SFA) took home the individual championships.
UNO is back in action in two weeks when they return to College Station for the 2024 South Central Regional on Fri. Nov. 15. The women's 6K will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by the men's 10K. Coverage information will be made available closer to the race.
