NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team returns to the court on Tuesday when they face the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Privateer Tennis Center.
The Privateers played a pair of matches over the weekend. They took the doubles point but ultimately lost their match against Mississippi State in the first home match against an SEC school since 1997. The next day, New Orleans made quick work of Mississippi Valley State as they did not lose a game during their 6-0 victory.
New Orleans has played just three matches to date. On the upcoming schedule, the Privateers have four matches in the next 10 days. The next five matches and six of the next seven will take place at the Privateer Tennis Center.
Tristanne Dechoux and
Anastassia Kouchnareva have gone 3-0 in doubles thus far this season while playing together at flight one.
Laurie Barendse and
Ksenia Reznitskaya are also an unblemished 2-0 thus far in doubles at flight two.
Barendse is also 2-0 in singles. She has won in straight sets against opponents from Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State while losing only six games. Against Mississippi State in her singles match, Barendse won the first set.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Louisiana is 2-3 on the season. They lost their last match 5-2 to Mississippi State in their most recent contest. The Cajuns have victories over Southern and Stephen F. Austin. The Cajuns are 4-8 collectively in singles matches this year.
