Women's Tennis Hosts Northwestern State, Southeastern to Close Conference Slate

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team will play a pair of matches against Northwestern State and Southeastern. The Privateers will play Northwestern State on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Southeastern on Monday at 1 p.m.

The Southeastern match will be preceded by Senior Day where women's seniors, Tristanne Dechoux and Audelia Morin Kougoucheff along with men's seniors, Marcel Volz and Luke Joujan will be honored.

New Orleans has won three straight matches with two of those victories coming in conference. The Privateers defeated UIW, Southern and Nicholls. In their most recent victory over Nicholls, the Privateers swept the doubles matches and took four singles bouts for a 5-2 win.

The Privateers will be playing to assert their hold on the 3-seed. They currently lead Northwestern State by a half game in the standings. Lamar and UIW are a game back and the Privateers have wins over both of those teams.

Laurie Barendse leads all players with eight singles victories. Anastassia Kouchnareva has seven singles wins and Dechoux has six on the spring campaign. As a team, the Privateers have won the doubles point seven times this season.

Last season, the Privateers lost both matches against Northwestern State and Southeastern. The Southeastern loss was a 4-3 decision while the Lady Demons defeated New Orleans 7-0.

The Southeastern match will be the last scheduled for the Privateer women until the conference tournament which starts Apr. 18 in San Antonio.

WE ARE YOUR KREWE
For 54 seasons, Privateer student-athletes have had the unique experience of wearing New Orleans across their chests.  Like the city itself, our sports teams have been fueled by resiliency, grit, and the unquenchable desire to win.  Our city also houses the nation's biggest celebration each year. And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
