FINAL RESULTS (GolfStat) | DAY ONE RECAP
NEW ORLEANS – Matt Weber finished tied for third place as the University of New Orleans golf team wrapped up its regular season tied for fourth at the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
For the first time in his collegiate career Weber finished all three rounds of a tournament at par or better and his final score of 210 was a five stroke improvement on his best 54 holes in college. Entering the final round at 5-under-par the Lafayette native was plus one on the day after four holes.
Weber made birdies on 10, 14 and 5 to offset a pair of bogeys and finished at 6-under-par for the tournament – two strokes out of first place. Weber finished with 12 birdies to pace the Privateers.
Tuesday in Kinder marked second time he finished in third place in his four tournaments played as a member of the Privateers.
Mason Roberts added the third top-20 finish of his career after finishing tied for 19
th with a score of 217. On par-3 holes Mason averaged 2.92 – tied for second best in the tournament with teammate
Ryan Fulton and Jake Plumb of Louisiana Tech. Mason made 10 birdies during the tournament.
Fulton finished just outside the top-25 with a score of 219 after shooting a 74 during the third round, while
Kyle Bennett and
Thomas Artigas finished tied for 34
th and tied for 41
st with scores of 222 and 225.
After carding a 294 in the final round New Orleans moved up one spot on the final day and finished tied for fourth with HCU with a score of 868. The Privateers as a team made 176 pars over two days, the most in the field, as well as 45 birdies.
Southeastern won the tournament after shooting 18-under par (846), and the individual champion. Jaxon Griffith of Stephen F. Austin, and Liam O'Rourke of Texas Southern tied for the individual championship with scores of 208.
