Matt Weber Named Second Team All-Southland

OFFICIAL SOUTHLAND RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS - For the fourth straight year, a member of the University of New Orleans golf program has been named All-Southland when Matt Weber was named second team All-Southland by the league office on Thursday morning.

Weber joined the Privateers over fall break and competed in all five tournaments UNO played in this spring, consistently occupying either the top spot or second spot in UNO's lineup.

The young man from Lafayette got his career on the Lakefront off to a strong start by finishing in third place at his first tournament - the Gulf Coast Collegiate. He also secured third place at the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate and tied for 10th at the 2024 Southland Championships at Comanche Trace.

Weber finished the season with an average score of 72.267 over 15 rounds of golf. The redshirt junior made 48 birdies, including an eagle at the Gulf Coast Collegiate and another during the Southland Championship. Matt shot par or better in nine of his 15 rounds, with two rounds below 70.

His best round was a 67 shot during the second round of the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate, and his lowest 54-hole score was 210, also achieved at the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate.

He joins Max Hellstrom (2018-2019), Florian Moosmeier (2020-2021), Brady Bennett (2021-2022), Grayson Gilbert (2021-2022), and Ryan Fulton (2022-2023) as Privateers who have earned All-Southland selections. Overall, he becomes the 19th All-Conference selection in school history.

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"Matt has done nothing but work extremely hard since he showed up on campus. He has a tremendously consistent semester with four top-20 finishes. He can be one of the best players in this conference next season if he continues to keep his head down and work hard every day. I'm excited to see what the future holds for a great young man!"
