The Privateers went 2-1 over the weekend after a walk-off win in 11 innings against the Boston College Eagles on Saturday. The Privateers snagged a pair of one-run victories over the weekend and it was the first series win over a power four conference since 2022.
Bryan Loriga went 7-for-13 at the plate and is hitting at .480. Loriga,
Bryce Calloway and
Collin Husser all have double digit hits through the first six games. Loriga and Calloway have 12 each while Husser is at 10. Of those 32 hits, 15 are extra base hits.
The Privateer bullpen has been solid in stranding inherited runners. Of the 22 runners inherited, only five have scored through six games.
Aiden Torrez has stranded all six runners inherited as he's entered with the bases loaded and two outs in both appearances.
O'Dell will be traveling back to his home town to start against the Jaguars. The Mobile native struck out 41 batters in 38 innings at Bishop State CC last season. He had two wins and a save in 16 appearances.
The Privateers notched a run rule victory 13-3 in their last matchup against South Alabama on Apr. 2, 2024. New Orleans has won three straight and is looking for their first four-game winning straek in the series since 2007-08. The 10-run rule was their largest margin of victory against South Alabama since 1997.
