NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team will start conference play on Saturday when they take on the Northwestern State Lady Demons at 11 a.m. Then the Privateers will host Stephen F. Austin on Monday, Mar. 3 at the Privateer Tennis Center also at 11 a.m.
The Privateers (3-1) are coming off a hard earned win against Jackson State. New Orleans had to stave off a Tigers rally, but
Iris Danne won a third set tiebreak to preserve the victory for the Privateers.
Danne moved her record in singles to 3-0 on the season with the win against Isabela Benvanides. Danne has only dropped two sets on the season and has won five of her six sets while dropping three games or fewer.
Fleur Sprengers also has three wins in singles on the season. The freshman who competed in the Southland Fall Championships won her second match in straight sets this spring. She has also won both of her completed doubles matches in the spring.
The Privateers had a strong finish in conference last season as they went 5-2 and tied for second in the league. Last season, the Privateers beat Northwestern State 6-1.
