Privateers Swept at South Texas Match Play

FINAL RESULTS (CLIPP'D SCOREBOARD) | JOIN THE PRIVATEER LINKS CLUB

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans golf team lost all three matches at South Texas Match play over the past two days in McAllen, Texas.

MATCH 1 | ACU 5 UNO 0
Abilene Christian defeated the Privateers 5-0 in UNO's opener on Monday morning. Matt Weber was able to rally from two down to draw level with Gregoire Hoyeau with three holes to play before falling by two.

Britton Khalaf was beaten 5&4 by Jack Hollingsed, Maximilian Feistmantl was beaten 2&1 by Colin Leonard, Garrett Trahan was beaten 6&5 by Jaime Lewis, and Taylor Boasberg was beaten 4&3 by Preston DeFriend.

Weber led the Privateers with three birdies in Monday's morning session, and Britton Khalaf had an eagle. The defeat was UNO's first loss in match play in over thirty years.

MATCH 2 | SFA 4 UNO 1
In Monday afternoon's match New Orleans fell 4-1 to Stephen F. Austin. Weber picked up the lone victory for the Privateers with a 2&1 victory over Cordell Knox. Eyan Edsall beat Garrett Trahan 4&3, Cameron Hubbard beat Khalaf 3&2, Sam Gargis beat Feistmantl 2&1, and Matthew Hewitt beat Boasberg 2&1. Boasberg, Feistmantle, Khalaf and Weber all made four birdies during the second round.

MATCH 3 | NICHOLLS 4 UNO 1
Once again it was Weber who picked up UNO's sole point during Tuesday morning's 4-1 loss to Nicholls. The Lafayette native beat Peyton Canter 3&2 with the Colonels picking up victories in the other four matches. Chase Pochylko beat Khalaf by one, Kyle Traub beat Trahan 2&1, Jack Moro beat Feistmantle 4&3, and James Bould beat Boasberg by two.

Weber once again led UNO with four birdies during the final match while Feistmantle had three birdies and an eagle.

The Privateers return to action March 23-24 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The tournament takes place on the Falls Course at Magnolia Bay in Mobile, Ala.
