OFFICIAL SOUTHLAND RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS - University of New Orleans golfers
Jude Bourque,
Max Feistmantl and
Garrett Trahan became the latest Privateers to be named to a Southland Conference All-Academic team on Wednesday morning.
Feistmantl finished the semester with a 3.64 grade point average while working on his degree in business administration. "Maxi" played in 30 rounds over 10 tournaments for the Privateers this season and posted a 74.1 stroke average. The Austrian finished with five rounds below par, 84 birdies and three eagles. The sophomore recorded four top-20 finishes, two top-10 finishes and a fourth-place finish at the Gulf Coast Collegiate.
Trahan earned his degree in accounting and finished with a 3.35 grade point average. "Big Red" played in 24 rounds over eight tournaments this year with a 77.0 stroke average. His best score was a 212 at the season-opening Grover Page Classic, which included a round of 66. He also shot a 66 in the second round of the LaTOUR Intercollegiate in October and finished in the top 25 at the Southland Championship in April.
Bourque finished the semester with a 3.56 grade point average while working on his degree in urban construction management. The St. Thomas More product played in 21 rounds over seven tournaments this season and posted a 76.1 stroke average. He shot a season-best 229 twice — at the Sandestin Collegiate and the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge — with a low round of 70.
Placement on a Southland Conference All-Academic Team is earned by maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and participating in at least 50% of a program's games, matches or meets. Student-athletes also must have completed one semester at their institution before their sport's championship. Each team is limited to five selections.
The UNO golf program now has 13 Southland Conference All-Academic selections since joining the league over a decade ago. So far this academic year, Privateer athletic teams have placed a school record 36 student-athletes on the league's All-Academic teams, with baseball still to be released.
