THIBODAUX, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team will play the first round of the Southland Tournament on Tuesday afternoon when they take on the 7-seed Southeastern Lions. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The women's squad has gone through an injury plagued season with a roster of six, but they were reduced to four in singles during their last match against West Florida. On the season, New Orleans went 5-13 overall.

The regular season matchup between New Orleans and Southeastern was an intense battle that went down to the finish with the singles match at flight one being the deciding point. Southeastern won that day 4-3 in Hammond.

New Orleans got singes wins from Fleur Sprengers, Kateryna Kalistratova and Iris Danne. Danne took care of her opponent, Taisia Bolsova in straight sets while Sprengers and Kalistratova both won in three sets. Southeastern won the doubles point by taking wins at flights one and three.

This will be the second time the Privateers and Lions hook up in the Southland Tournament. The previous meeting was in 2023 which also came down to the wire as Southeastern won that day 4-3. Southeastern has won three of the last four meetings against the Privateers heading into Tuesday.
