NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Beach Volleyball team concluded their season today at home with their 0-3 loss to No. 4 Stephen F. Austin. This ended their run in the SLC Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament.
The first set of the day was won by Kelly Johnson and Elaina Amador of SFA on court 3. In the second set, Privateers
Savannah Moberly and
Grace Hinchman came out swinging with a 5-point lead early on. The Jacks were able to take back the lead swiftly. The Privateers kept applying pressure, however, and finished the second set with 18 points. Despite the effort from New Orleans, SFA won in straight sets on court 3, the first game to finish. The final score was 21-13, 21-18 for SFA.
The match on court 1 was second to finish in straight sets for the Lady Jacks; 21-13, 21-16 was the final score. This was the final match for
Ivana de Carvalho Peixe as a Privateer.
The match that sealed SFA's victory came from court five.
Ava Rixford and
Dayla Ward had a strong offensive first set, scoring 17 points (21-17). Jennah Atchley and Victoria Simmang of SFA clinched the straight set victory with a 21-10 second set.
Despite the other matches remaining unfinished, the Privateers found a first-set victory on court 2.
Ashley Salazar and
Tristin Smith kept things close in their match against the Jacks, and the New Orleans pair were able to decisively take the first set 21-16.
New Orleans ends this difficult season with a 5-30 overall record. Their victories came against Nicholls (3), Sam Houston, and Mobile. Despite the season's challenges, the Privateers ended their season at home.
