NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Beach Volleyball team hosted matches at home today for the first time this season. At Privateer Beach, New Orleans competed against ULM and Nicholls, landing another sweeping victory against the Colonels. The team also took the opportunity to honor their two seniors,
Tristin Smith and
Ivana de Carvalho Peixe, with a joyful senior day ceremony.
Ivana has been a Privateer for 4 years. She is graduating with a degree in Marketing and plans to attend Loyola to earn an MBA. Her favorite memory with the team was when they reverse-swept HCU at the Conference Championship in Corpus Christi to advance to the semi-finals. She is currently one of the team's co-captains, and she has made a wonderful impact on the New Orleans Beach Volleyball program.
Tristin is graduating from UNO with a degree in Biology. She has only been with the Privateers for 1 year, but she has made such a positive impact in that time. Her favorite team moment is Coach Ryan's pit drill. For her next step, she plans to attend medical school to become an anesthesiologist. Tristin has such a bright future ahead of her.
In today's lineup for New Orleans, there was another adjustment on court 5. Playing on court 5 today were
Savannah Moberly and Lindey Neal. This is the first time either athlete has played on court 5 this season, and they were successful in securing a win against Nicholls.
The standout pair performance of the day was once again
Nikelle Lander and
Ivana de Carvalho Peixe. They won both of their matches against ULM and Nicholls in two sets. They found results today in a specifically dominant fashion, and that has often been the case with the pair when heavy winds are involved. With today's weather conditions, every loose item had to be secure, or else it would fly away.
After finishing the Pontchartrain Beach Bash on a high note with a victory, the team was in high spirits. They are ready to keep putting in the work as they inch closer and closer to the Conference Championship, which they will be hosting on their own sand.

NEXT UP
New Orleans will travel to Baton Rouge next week to compete at the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU and held at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium. The team will play Friday, April 11, against Southern Miss and HCU, then Saturday, April 12, against Stephen F. Austin and LSU.
