NEW ORLEANS – For the fifth year in a row Track and Field's postseason will have Privateer representation when
Daryl Bachmann,
Darryl George Jr.,
Madonna Favour, and
Christopher Murphy take to the track at the NCAA East Regional beginning on Wednesday.
Murphy will be making his second appearance at an NCAA regional in both the long jump, and as part of the 4x100 relay team after competing in both events in 2024. The senior finished 25
th in the long jump with a best jump of 7.27 meters, and was part of a 4x100 squad that finished one spot away from a national championship appearance with a time of 39.41.
Both of Murphy's qualifying marks this season were achieved at LSU's Alumni Gold in April – 7.58 meters in the long jump, and a time of 39.51 in the 4x100.
The long jump starts at 3:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday afternoon with the top 12 jumpers moving on to the National Championships in Eugene, Oregon June 11-14.
Favour will also be competing in his second NCAA regional after being a part of last season's 4x100 squad as well. This season he also qualified for the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 10.20 – set at the TCU Horned Frog Invite in May.
That competition starts at 6:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday with Madonna running in lane 8 during the first heat. The top three finishes in each heat, along with the next three fastest times will move on to Friday's quarterfinals at 5:35 p.m. CST.
Joining them in the men's 4x100 relay will be Bachmann, and George Jr. The former will be making his NCAA regional debut with the latter having been a part of last year's team. New Orleans has been oh-so-close in recent years in the 4x100, finishing one spot away from a national championship appearance each of the last three seasons.
The men's 4x100 relays begin on Friday at 4:00 p.m. CST with the top three from each heat and the next three fastest times advancing to the NCAA Championships.
