NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The New Orleans Privateers track and field team will run their final meet before the indoor championships when they head to Vanderbilt for the Music City Challenge. The two-day event starts on Friday.
The first day will start with the throwing events as
Christina Davis and
Keon Woolridge will participate in the weight throw. Davis has set two new personal bests in the indoor season. After throwing 15.02 meters at the LSU Purple Tiger, Davis improved on that mark again with a best throw of 15.48 meters at the Jaguar Invitational.
The 60-meter and 200-meter preliminaries will also take place on Friday and there are 15 combined entries between both the men and the women. Yoran Kabala-Kabengle made the finals of the 60-meter at the Jaguar Invitational.
Mason Appleton will close out the first day with his run in the men's 5000-meter. Appleton has not run the 5K yet this indoor season. He participated in the 3K at the Jaguar Invitational and finished third in the event.
Jose Rodriguez, who comes off a school record in the 800-meter will run the same event on the second day of competition. Rodriguez clocked a 1:50.51 which is the second fastest time in the Southland this season entering the weekend.
Davis, Woolridge and
Antonio Creger will all start the day in the shot put. The Privateers will also have eight runners compete in the 3000-meter. Also, the 400-meter will be filled with Privateers: 10 in total are scheduled to compete in the event this weekend.
The meet will be carried on SEC Network Plus.
