NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team returns to action on Sunday when they take on the College of Charleston at the Privateer Tennis Center at 11 a.m. On Monday, the Privateers will host Norfolk State at 1 p.m.
Thus far, the Privateers have won five straight to open the 2026 campaign. It's their longest winning streak to start a season since 2020 when the Privateers won their first six matches of the year.
The women's team has gone 33-6 combined in all of their matches between singles and doubles. Two doubles teams have gone undefeated to start the year and there are three singles players without a loss to their name heading into the week.
Fleur Sprengers has gone 5-0 to start the year and has set the tone at flight one. The sophomore has not lost a set in singles and has only been pushed to 10 total games in a set once this year. Sprengers has lost only seven games over her last eight sets of singles play.
In doubles, Sprengers has paired with
Danique Vermue for a 4-0 record this season. The duo have won their last two doubles matches by score lines of 6-2 and 6-0.
Kateryna Kalistratova and
Nouray Khaled have gone undefeated in singles thus far in flights two and three respectively. Kalistratova now has 24 singles wins in her career and has moved into the top 20 in that category since 2000.
College of Charleston picked up their first win of the season when they beat Presbyterian 4-3 on Feb. 18. They will play Nicholls on Saturday prior to traveling to New Orleans.
Norfolk State is 2-2 with wins over Hampton and East Carolina this season. Their most recent match was a 4-2 loss to Xavier (La.) on Friday.
