Women's Tennis to Host North Dakota Before Opening Conference Play This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team will play North Dakota at home on Thursday before opening conference play on the road at Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin.

New Orleans (6-1) won a 4-3 decision against Norfolk State in their last outing 10 days prior. Naila Krifa picked up the deciding win for the Privateers after winning a third set 10-point tiebreak by the score of 10-8.

Fleur Sprengers is undefeated in singles on the season. The Privateers' flight one singles player has only been extended to three sets just once in her seven matches this year. Eight of her 14 sets won have come while conceding two or fewer games.

The ladies as a unit are 14-6 against their opponents in doubles. Sprengers and Danique Vermue have a 5-1 record while Kateryna Kalistratova and Nouray Khaled also have a 5-1 mark while paired together.

New Orleans was scheduled to open conference play last week at Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin but both matches were postponed to this weekend due to inclement weather in the area.

The Privateers played to a 4-3 loss against Northwestern State at home last season. Northwestern State has won 12 of the last 16 meetings. Kalistratova and Sprengers both had wins in singles last season.

New Orleans and Stephen F. Austin have played 11 matches since 2010. Stephen F. Austin has won six of those meetings and the Lady Jacks won the last meeting in 2025 at the Privateer Tennis Center.
