NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans track and field program kicks off its 2026 outdoor campaign with a trip to Hammond, Louisiana, for the Any Thiel Season Opener hosted by Southeastern on Saturday.
Field events begin at 9 a.m. for the Privateers, with
Christina Davis set to compete in the women's hammer throw. Davis will also compete in the women's discus and shot put Saturday afternoon. On the men's side,
Keon Woolridge will throw the hammer,
Tyler Mitchell will compete in the javelin and
Antonio Creger will throw the discus and shot put.
Running events will be on a rolling schedule starting at noon. First up for the Privateers is the men's 4x100-meter relay, with
Keldrick Turner,
Yoran Kabala Kabengle,
Daryl Bachmann and
Olamipo Ladipo set to pass the baton for UNO.
The UNO men will participate in the 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1,500 meters. The UNO women will compete in the 100, 200, 400 and 1,500 meters, as well as the 400-meter hurdles.
The meet will include a team scoring component, with the top three performers in each event tallying points for their team. Saturday's meet will be the first non-Southland Championship scoring event for Privateer track since the 2022 South Alabama Invitational, where the men finished eighth with 20 points and the women finished sixth with 56 points.
