NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team will travel to Tulane on Thursday to face the Green Wave before returning home for a pair of conference matches against Lamar (Saturday) and UIW (Monday).
The women opened Southland play on the road last weekend. A 4-3 loss to Northwestern State was followed by a 7-0 loss against Stephen F. Austin.
Fleur Sprengers had her nine-match winning streak in singles to open the season snapped against Stephen F. Austin, but the sophomore has won all nine of her matches at flight one in straight sets this season.
In doubles, Sprengers and
Danique Vermue had a win at flight two against Stephen F. Austin. The pair of Netherlands natives have a 6-1 record in doubles heading into the back end of the week.
Kateryna Kalistratova is out to a 7-2 start in singles as the Privateers' flight two player. Kalistratova scored a 6-4, 6-3 win against Northwestern State in singles last Friday and has won five matches in straight sets.
Tulane has won 14 straight meetings against the Privateers dating back to 2004. The Privateers have scored two points in each of the last three meetings against the Green Wave.
The Privateers have split the last six meetings against Lamar going back to 2018. New Orleans has lost back-to-back meetings against UIW over the last two seasons after holding a previous eight match winning streak against the Cardinals.
