NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team will head to the Southland Mid-Conference in Youngsville, La. this weekend where all four matches will count toward their conference record.
New Orleans will face McNeese and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Privateers will be facing HCU and Nicholls on Saturday also at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Privateers (4-8, 2-0) have defeated their first two opponents in the conference slate. New Orleans beat Stephen F. Austin in the Cowgirl Beach Bash and scored a win against Southeastern in the Pontchartrain Beach Bash.
Cassie and
Ellie Sieling had an undefeated week at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash with three wins, moving their mark to 7-4 on the season. They have played all of their matches at flight one.
As a unit, the Privateers have been solid at the top of the rotation. Between flights one and two, New Orleans has a combined team record of 15-8.
New Orleans has played McNeese in two separate tournaments and has gone 0-2 against the Cowgirls. This weekend will mark the first matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Nicholls and HCU this season.
After this week, the Privateers have four more weekends of play before they set their sights on the Southland Championships hosted by Corpus Christi in the last week of April.
