NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team will play Nicholls twice on Friday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. in the Bayou Beach Battle at Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
The Privateers went 1-3 in the Southland Mid-Conference last week with a victory against Nicholls but they also pushed defending champion, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and HCU to deciding matches in a pair of 3-2 losses.
Cassie and
Ellie Sieling have been a strong pair at the top of the rotation. They went 3-1 at flight one in the Southland Mid-Conference including securing one of the two points against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. On the season, they are 10-5.
Ashley Salazar and
Brooke Dow have been anchors at flight two for the Privateers this season. When paired together they have a 9-5 mark on the year.
Lucianna Alexander and
Renata Dykstra were recently paired together, playing their first tournament at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash. They went 3-1 in their second tournament together at the Southland Mid-Conference, scoring the lone point against McNeese in the process.
The Privateers beat Nicholls 3-2 at the conclusion of the Southland Mid-Conference. The top three pairs in the rotation all secured straight set victories. Nicholls won a three-set match at flight four and in straight sets at flight five.
Nicholls (6-12) is looking to snap an eight-match losing streak. Their wins this year have come against William Carey (twice), Huntingdon (twice) and East Texas Baptist (twice).
