THIBODAUX, La. – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team scored a pair of wins over Nicholls on Friday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex. They won the first match 4-1 and the second 3-2.
In the second match, the Privateers once again had to hold off a stubborn Colonels squad but they did so by winning flights one, three and five.
The critical swing match was a three-set win by
Lindsey Neal and
Jordan Madsen at flight five. The duo held through a tough opening set winning 21-19. Nicholls' pair of Claire Reed and Reagan Erickson responded by scoring seven of the last 10 points in the second set to take that one 21-17.
The third though went to the Privateers who controlled the action as they took the final set 15-5.
Lucianna Alexander and
Renata Dykstra also provided a flight three win. They slowly took over the opening set as they ended it by scoring 10 of the last 15 points on their way to a 21-16, 21-17 victory.
Cassie and
Ellie Sieling had the second dominant win of the day. They conceded only 16 points on the match in a 21-6, 21-10 win. That followed on the heels of their 21-9, 21-5 victory earlier in the day.
Alexander and Dykstra were also 2-0 on the day, winning the first match 21-19, 13-21, 15-6.
Ashley Salazar and
Brooke Dow persevered in a three-set battle against the Colonels to start the day, winning 15-10 in the third set of their match.
