BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers closed out the weekend with a win against Spring Hill as they went 2-2 at the Battle on the Bayou over the last two days at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
DAY ONE
New Orleans-3 Texas A&M-Kingsville-2
Cassie and
Ellie Sieling sealed the victory by delivering in extra rallies in the second set, which vaulted them and the Privateers to the match win.
After losing the first set 21-15, the Sieling sisters won the second set 27-25. That gave them the momentum to push through a tough third set 15-10, which notched the Privateers' sixth consecutive win.
Brooke Dow and
Ashley Salazar also notched a three-set win. The pair took the first set 21-18. Texas A&M-Kingsville took the second 25-23, but Dow and Salazar controlled the third set 15-8.
New Orleans also scored a point through their flight five pair of
Jordan Madsen and
Lindsey Neal. The duo took their match in straight sets 21-19, 21-14.
Southeastern-3 New Orleans-2
The Privateers fell just short of what would have been their longest winning streak in program history.
Southeastern took the first to matches to finish at flight four and five. Both matches were wrapped up in straight sets.
The Privateers got on the board from Dow and Salazar who won again in straight sets 21-18, 21-18 but Southeastern responded with the clinching point at flight three. Carley Petty and Emmaleigh Vincent won 21-12, 21-16 to decide the match for Southeastern.
Cassie and Ellie moved to 2-0 on the weekend with a three-set victor to close out the match, winning 21-12, 17-21, 15-12.
DAY TWO
Central Arkansas-4 New Orleans-1
The Privateers got their lone point of the match through Cassie and Ellie as the duo continued to stay hot with a 24-22, 21-19 victory against UCA.
Central Arkansas won a pair of key matches in three sets at flights two and three. Madelyn White and Chandler Lawrence took their third set 15-10 at flight two. Ella Layzell and Brooke Sharp won 15-11 in their third set at flight three.
Central Arkansas took the matches at flight four and five in straight sets.
New Orleans-4 Spring Hill-1
Malia Kampfe and
Molly Perry started things off with a dramatic comeback at flight five to help start the Privateers out on their weekend finale against the Badgers.
Kampfe and Perry took the third set in extra rallies at 16-14 to get New Orleans to an early 1-0 lead. Spring Hill tied it with a win at flight four, but the Privateers surged to victory behind their top three flights.
Lucianna Alexander and
Renata Dykstra took a thrilling opening set in extra rallies and held on in the third for a 26-24, 15-21, 15-13 win.
The Sieling sisters put the finishing touches on a 4-0 weekend as they dominated their match 21-8, 21-11. Their winning streak is now at 11 straight matches, the longest since Ania Esarte and Lucie Pokorna won 15 straight in 2022.
Dow and Salazar won their third set 15-9 to finish their weekend 3-1. They are now 14-8 together on the year.
NEXT UP
The Privateers will participate in the NOLA Classic next Friday and Saturday at White Sands.
