Privateers Return Home to Face Off Against Troy

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers return home for a midweek game on Tuesday afternoon when they face off against the Troy Trojans at Maestri Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

PITCHING MATCHUP
UNO-LHP Bryson Goff vs. TROY-RHP Matt Dill

The Privateers won the series finale at Illinois in ten innings 8-7 on an Evan Rogers solo home run. It was the fourth time the Privateers have played an extra inning game in their last eight contests.

Dylan Biddick hit the first lead-off homer this season by a Privateer on Saturday against Illinois. He is one of four Privateers to homer in the first inning this season along with Owen Smith, Eli Tidwell and Jake D'Altrui. Also, Biddick has a .406 batting average as a leadoff batter in an inning (32 at-bats) this year.

Sunday against Illinois marked the sixth game this year where the Privateers hit three or more home runs. Their 43 home runs through 38 games rank third in the Southland and 69th in Division I heading into the week.

Jack Garvey had his longest outing of the season on Saturday when he threw 4.0 innings against Illinois. Five of his 11 outings this year have gone at least 2.0 innings. Garvey has also stranded all five runners he has inherited this season.

The Privateers are playing Troy in a midweek contest for the first time ever. The 30 prior meetings have all either been weekend series or meetings in the conference tournament (twice during the Privateers' time in the Sun Belt). Troy leads the all-time series 21-9.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Troy is at 18-18 on the season after last weekend where they took two of three from Texas State in San Marcos. The Trojans hit .345 with nine doubles and six home runs while posting 32 runs. Jimmy Janicki leads the team in batting average (.333), doubles (11), home runs (9) and RBI (42) entering the week. The Trojans are hitting .279 as a team.
