NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team will play their penultimate tournament of the regular season this weekend when they face four opponents at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The Privateers will play Texas A&M-Kingsville and Southeastern at 1 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The second day sees the Privateers face off against Central Arkansas at 11:45 a.m. and Spring Hill at 1:45 p.m.
New Orleans comes in with a 9-11 record and has won five straight matches. Last weekend, the Privateers took care of Mobile, defeating them twice at the Privateer Beach Courts. The Privateers only dropped one point over the day.
Cassie and
Ellie Sieling come in riding a seven-match winning streak and have a record of 14-5 this season while playing at flight one.
Lucianna Alexander and
Renata Dykstra have also strung together five consecutive wins at flight three and have a record of 8-4 as a tandem.
The Privateers have already played three of the four opponents they will face this weekend. New Orleans lost 3-2 to Spring Hill in the opening weekend. They have defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 3-2 and also have a 3-2 victory against Southeastern at the Southland Mid-Conference.
With the Southland Tournament looming in a few weeks, the Privateers already know their path. The Privateers are the 5-seed and will play HCU in the opening round of the conference tournament at Water's Edge Park in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The last stop before the conference tournament will be at nearby White Sands next weekend when the Privateers face five opponents in the NOLA Classic.
