University of New Orleans hurdler Michael Nicholls has capped off an impressive sophomore season by being named 2017 Outdoor NCAA Division I Honorable Mention All-American by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
 
The Southland Conference champion in the 110-meter high hurdles qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon where he finished 20^th with a time of 13.98.  The eight finalists in Eugene are first team honorees, 9 thru 16 are second teamers and those who finished 17th-24th earn honorable mention recognition.
 
Nicholls continued his dominance in the hurdles in the Southland Conference by streaking to his second SLC Championship in the event winning with a personal best of 13.76 at the conference meet in New Orleans in May.  He defended his 2016 crown outdoors and he was victorious at this year indoor championships in Birmingham.
 
After two years of competition in the Southland, Michael Nicholls is a perfect 8-0 never having lost a race indoors or outdoors in conference competition.
 
The sophomore from Barbados was also a First Team All-Southland Conference selection for the second straight year.
