Privateers Finish Tied for Sixth at the Final Round of the Methodist Sportscare

DAY ONE RECAP | FINAL RESULTS

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Mar. 23, 2004) –
The University of New Orleans finished with a combined score of 618 to earn a tie for sixth in the final round of the 12-team, 36-hole Methodist Sportscare Collegiate Championship played Tuesday at Eastover Golf Club.

Kevin Maxwell was the top Privateer scorer as he finished the event in a ninth place tie. Maxwell shot a final round 74 to end with a two-day total of 150. Aaron Moreno followed one stroke behind Maxwell to end the tournament tied for 14th.

Justin Lotz scored a 156 to finish tied for 28th, while Anthony Klingensmith ended the event tied for 49th with a two-day tally of 163. Brandon Suzuki and James Fuselier each posted marks of 164 to earn a 53rd place tie.

Alan Johnson of the University of Missouri-Kansas City won the individual title with a combined score of 145.

Tennessee State won the team competition with a total score of 597. Southern Illinois was nine strokes off the pace with a 606. Eastern Illinois followed closely behind in third with a 610. Nicholls State and Jackson State rounded out the top five respectively with a 616 and 617.

The Privateers next head to the Sun Belt Conference Championships on April 18 – 21 in Niceville, Fla.
