Men's Golf Takes Sixth in Sam Hall Intercollegiate

DAY ONE RESULTS | FINAL RESULTS

JACKSON, Miss. (Oct. 31, 2005) –
 The University of New Orleans men's golf team shot a three round total of 856 to finish in sixth place at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate held at the par 72, 6,900 yard Patrick Farms Golf Club.

The Privateers finished eight strokes behind South Florida (848) who defeated host school Southern Mississippi in a one-hole playoff to take the team title. Nebraska (850), Jacksonville State (853), and Louisiana-Monroe (855) were the only other schools ahead of UNO in the 16-team field.

All five Privateer golfers finished within five strokes of each other. Kenji Muryama and Anthony Cantu each shot three round totals of 214 (-2) to finish in a tie for 20th place in the individual competition. Santiago Escobar finished in a 23rd place tie after shooting an even-par 216, while Matthew Shoemaker tied for 28th after hitting a one-over par 217. Adam Collins ended the tournament in 31st place after firing a 218 (+2).

South Florida's Kevin Tilbury captured the individual title with an 11-under par 204.
