DAY ONE RECAP | FINAL RESULTS
MONROE, La. (Oct. 4, 2005) – The University of New Orleans men's golf team captured third by shooting a final round 279 in the two-day 54-hole Louisiana Monroe/Fred Marx Invitational Tuesday at Bayou Desiard Country Club.
The Privateers had a three stroke lead heading into the final round, but fell six strokes short of host Louisiana-Monroe (868) who took the team championship. Samford (871) claimed second and just three shots ahead of the Privateers (873). Nicholls State (883) claimed fourth in the 11-team field followed by Troy (885), McNeese St. (888), Southwest Texas St. (889), Louisiana Tech (890), Stephen F. Austin (891), Missouri State (895) and Jackson State (906).
Adam Collins fired a one-over 217 for the tournament to hold on to a third place tie for the Privateers.
Anthony Cantu scored a 76 on the final day to finish with a three round total of 219 to tie for seventh. Jason Kuperman (221) and Mitch Ellis (223) earned respective 13th and 22nd place finishes. Adam Cornelson is the next Privateer finisher in a 28th place tie with a 224, while Matthew Shoemaker rounds out the tournament with a 228 and a 43rd place showing.
ULM's Daniel Keeton took the individual title with a three-under 213.
